ABOUT
Guildford Health Walks started life in 2009. The first group joined a national Health Walks community, initially under the auspices of Natural England, later managed by the Ramblers. Over the years that first walk group has increased to five, with walks on offer around Guildford and the villages, including Worplesdon, Shalford, and Shere.
In 2015 we became a Community Group Association run by a committee. We are currently 35 trained volunteer walk leaders taking turns to lead around 20 to 25 FREE walks a month. All of our walks offer the option of refreshments after the walk, ideal for getting to know the other walkers better.
What our walkers say:
| “ How much pleasure and benefit I get from Guildford Health Walks. Not only the actual walking in an unhurried and caring group, the enjoyment of the local countryside, but also the chance of social interaction that is of real benefit to me. ” | “ Guildford Health Walks has transformed my life. It took me back into the community from growing isolation and mental health problems. Without it my battle would be much tougher. ” |
| “ The walks contribute to my wellbeing; encourages me to walk on my own as well; shows me places I wouldn’t have gone to; gives me a sense of belonging; contribute to my mental wellbeing. ” | “ I wanted to make the transition from couch to 5k and the health walks have helped enormously. The friendly people and pleasant walks have meant that I was motivated to continue to walk for exercise and I soon managed to walk 5k on most days. ” |
